Next to the Core simulation model, the Operator Interface plays a vital role in an Opeartor Trining Simulator (OTS). Inspite of exhaustive benefits derived out of emulated interface systems, the need to have an actual DCS (Direct Connect) as an Interface to an OTS continues to be there.

ESDOCTCOM is in the process of developing an OPC Compliant Training Simulator ESIMOPC. Using OPC cross connectors the simulator can be connected to Distributed Control Systems (DCS) of different vendors supporting OPC data access. The trainees/students will have the look and feel of the actual DCS that he is expected to operate in the plant. This way a dynamic process model can be controlled by an actual control application, which opens new possibilities for designing and testing of automation solutions apart from operator training.
